Music Video Pitch - Visual Inspiration

Below are some links to clips of music videos which I have been inspired by and influenced by in the process of creating original concepts for the upcoming music videos. The examples range from genre and time period, but are often linked together through their content subjects or visual style.

Visual Symbolism & Motifs
Visual references to Metropolis, in relation to the relationship between human and robot. The second image shows the subservient workforce of factory workers entering the gates of capitalism. This can be reflected through the rich men entering the nightclub, throwing their money at working class values of alcohol and exploiting women.

The shot of Bladerunner below is something we aim to incorporate into our music video if chosen. The visual style and all elements of the mise-en-scene of Bladerunner inspired our concepts for an 80s music video, due to the futuristic robotic dystopian future. This became a cultural thing of the 80s, the obsession with all things sic-fi was instilled by popular films of that time, e.g. Star Wars.

Music Video Inspiration
The visual style of these music videos below conform to that which we are trying to achieve. Mellow, yet moody visuals with deep contrasting tones. All of these bright colours contrast with one another but combine with the narrative and characters to give off a depressive and numbing atmosphere.
